Welcome back to rikyreef, for november's article I choose Raki's coral tank, and will be Raki himself to introduce his tank in all its part.
Hi ! My name is Rocky. I was born and raised in the Philippines but now an american citizen living in Florida, USA. Aside from being a reefer, I am also a Network Technician. I am very passionate about everything I do and I am not afraid of doing a different approach.
I have been in the fish keeping for 24 years now but only started reefing 3 years ago. When we were kids, my father used to take us to the river and catch fish, that's where my fishes passion was born.
Future project
I have been thinking to setup a good size frag tank and connect it to my tank just to deal with only one water. I also would love to have a fowlr tank.
Describe your coral tank
The tank is 270 gallon with an 80 gallon sump. The display is 90 inch x 29 inch x 36 inch. It is 28 months oldi. It is a reef mixed tank display with SPS, LPS zoas and a lot more. My fish are mainly tangs. The skimmer is a Royal Exclusive Vertex Alpha 300. I achieve my flow with Seaswirl Oscillator, IceCap Gyre 4K, Skimz wavemaker and Sicce. The lighting setup includes T5 hybrid fixture with Ati T5 bulbs, Aquailluminatios Led lights and Orphek Or3 blue plus. I do not do water changes for a couple years now, hower, I dose trace elementssuch as Reefmoonshiners and ATI elements. When I need to do some salinity adjustment, I use instant ocean. I also dose Algaebarn Magik Ocean and monthly pods. I recently just started using Aquaforest products as well. Aside from the 270 gallons, I also have the Eshopps Deskmate with a 4,8 gal pico tank. I love all my fishes so I am not sure which one is my favorite but my favorite coral would be SPS.
My greatest advise is to have a lot of patience in most aspect of the hobby. However, do not wait for the issue to get worst before you take your first action.
